What the studio posted on 10 September
Steam carries a post titled Launch Stability Hotfix #1. The studio's wording, not ours: a small client update is meant to address being unable to join, unexpected kicks, and a long login queue. Everyone already in-game was logged out. Steam news →
- Close WARDOGS and restart.
- Take the client update in Steam.
- After launch everyone returns to the login queue.
- The studio lets people in in controlled batches.
- They say they will raise the batches as people start getting in.
This is not a green light and not 'servers are up'. The studio described a queue and waves. If the client will not even open and the counter is quiet — then the crash order.
Before you start fixing your PC
A mass outage and a broken install are fixed in opposite ways, and half a lost evening goes into repairing a healthy computer. One sign splits them: does your symptom match what everyone else is marking in the same hour.
- The counter above is quiet and your screen is black — almost certainly local. Walk the crash order.
- The counter is red and the symptom matches — leave the drivers alone and do not reinstall. That costs an evening and buys nothing.
- A queue at the door is its own case. The client is alive, anti-cheat came up, you are simply not being let into a match. There is nothing to fix.
What the beta taught
On 21 August thousands queued at the open and half the internet decided the servers were dead. The studio walked through it in the recap: the culprit was a Twitch-drops and DLC grant bug on their backend. Drops were switched off and the queue moved. Match servers had been working the whole time. Studio recap →
The lesson is simple: a queue and a dead backend are not the same thing, and confusing them is expensive. That is why the counter keeps them on separate buttons.
Where the studio actually answers
WARDOGS has no status page. When something breaks, the answer shows up in three places, usually in this order.
- Discord — the fastest. In the beta that is where the drops-off notice went up.
- Steam — storefront news and discussions. Slower, but it is the official record.
- Our diary — we fold what the studio said into one feed so you do not reread three channels.
We are not the studio and not support. The counter shows what readers marked and nothing else. If it disagrees with an official message, believe the official one.
